Common Propane Gas Questions
Below are some answers to questions you might have regarding propane. If you need more information give us a call today at 440-458-5155.
1. What can I use propane gas for?
Propane is ideal for a wide range of home uses, including ranges, barbecuing, clothes dryers, air conditioners, fireplaces, pool heaters, spas, and outdoor lights. It also fuels energy-efficient standby generators, and integrated appliances for heating, cooling and hot water.
2. What size gas tank will I require?
Tanks for residential use are available in a variety of sizes. Typical capacity ranges from 50-1,000 gallons. Propane storage tanks are specially treated to prevent corrosion. As a result, they generally last much longer than fuel oil tanks. In many cases, tanks can be installed underground with only a small dome on the surface to house valves and connections.
3. Why should I consider changing over from electricity to propane?
Electricity is on average, 3 times more expensive than propane. Propane gas water heaters also consume considerably less energy than electric models.
4. Why is propane the fuel of choice for so many businesses, industries and farms?
• It can be used at the same rate any time of the day or night. Unlike electricity, it isn't subject to load balancing requirements. Propane can be supplied almost anywhere, freeing users from dependence on electricity.
• Because it leaves no residue when burned, propane meets U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) clean air standards.
• Propane is easily transported, making it ideal for use in mobile as well as stationary applications.
• Propane can be stored indefinitely, unlike gasoline or fuel oil which deteriorate over time.
